Meet Anu Leemann
Anu Leemann is a research scientist who has been a leader and innovator in the healthcare and biotechnology industries.
Dr. Anu Leemann earned her BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, and her Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from the University of Chicago.
She began her career as a member of the faculty in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at Cornell University Medical Center, where she received awards and grants from organizations including the National Institutes of Health, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the American Cancer Society.
Anu Leemann was then named Scientific Director of a start-up cancer diagnostics company, where she was eventually promoted to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. She expanded the company’s services to help the pharmaceutical/genomics industry better identify cancer specific targets and expedite drug development.
During this time, Anu served on a variety of industry panels focusing on the better management of cancer and the translation of genomic/proteomic research into viable cancer drugs. She was frequently interviewed by business publications, including The New York Times, Fortune and Forbes, and she made a variety of television and radio appearances on CNN-FN, CNBC, PBS, American Health Radio, etc.
Leemann later became the Director of Corporate Development at Resolution Economics Group, LLC., where she helped to establish operating structures and systems for this rapidly growing economic consulting company. She also assisted the company in identifying new business opportunities focused on optimizing workforce decisions that help clients avoid workplace related litigation.
Anu Leemann spends much of her time volunteering for organizations that are close to her heart. She has served in various parent leadership roles, including head of Annual Fund and the Capital Campaign of Berkeley Hall School. And she has served as chair of the Marlborough School in Los Angeles’ Community Services Committee.
Anu Leemann is a longstanding supporter of The Blue Ribbon, the Los Angeles Music Center’s premier women’s support organization. The Blue Ribbon has enriched the lives of the greater Los Angeles community through its commitment to arts education, volunteerism and financial support for The Music Center and its resident companies.
She is a member of the Los Angeles Opera Council, and the University of Chicago Dean’s Council, where she focuses on the Odyssey Scholarship Fund, which provides full financial awards to students from lower-income families and first-generation college students. Leemann is also involved with the committee to open a UChicago Center in Paris, France.
Anu Leemann offers pro bono counseling to cancer patients and their families. She excels at assisting patients throughout the treatment process.
